What controller support is officially listed?
The Hood Warfare 2 Steam store lists full controller support and identifies Xbox controllers. That is the official support statement checked on October 16, 2026; we have not independently tested individual controller models or connection methods.
An Xbox controller working with a Windows game does not mean that the game has an Xbox console version. Likewise, connecting a PS5 DualSense to a PC is not the same as playing the game on PS5. The platform guide covers release availability separately.

First check whether Windows and Steam see the controller
The following steps are general Windows and Steam troubleshooting. They have not been tested in Hood Warfare 2 and are not a compatibility guarantee for an unsupported device.
- Connect one controller before starting the game. For an initial wired check, use a USB cable that carries data, not a charging-only cable.
- Check whether Windows and Steam detect the controller before trying to diagnose the game itself.
- If a wired connection works but Bluetooth does not, record that difference and troubleshoot pairing or the wireless connection separately.
- Launch the game through Steam and check both menu navigation and gameplay input; one working does not establish that every control is correct.
- Keep a keyboard and mouse available while checking settings so you can undo a change that leaves the controller unresponsive.
Test one Steam Input configuration at a time
Steam Input can translate input from a controller into controls a game understands. Whether a particular game and device work best with it enabled depends on their support paths, so there is no universally correct on/off recommendation here.
Record the current per-game controller setting in Steam. If the device is detected but input is missing or duplicated in the game, compare the available Steam Input configuration with the original setting, restarting the game between tests. Change only one input path at a time and return to the original setting if the change makes things worse.
If you already use a third-party controller remapper, overlapping translation paths can complicate diagnosis. Test a simpler configuration before adding another utility. We do not require or recommend downloading a particular remapper for Hood Warfare 2 on the evidence available.
PS5 controller, prompts and aiming expectations
We have seen players ask about PS5 controllers, but those questions are not proof of DualSense compatibility. Test detection, movement, camera control, fire, menus and any controls you need before assuming a configuration is complete.
A controller being detected also does not establish PlayStation button prompts, adaptive triggers, haptics or aim assist. We have not verified those features and do not publish invented sensitivity values, deadzone ranges or aim-assist toggles.
If you tune any setting that the current game actually provides, write down its default first. Compare a small change in the same situation and restore it if accuracy or comfort gets worse. Sensitivity numbers copied from another shooter are not a verified conversion.
What to include in a controller bug report
A reproducible report should identify the controller model, USB or Bluetooth connection, Windows version, game version, Steam Input setting and any remapping software. Say exactly what works and what does not: no input, double input, drifting camera, wrong prompts or a particular missing action.
We will add device-specific results only when the device, connection method, build and test conditions can be named. Until then, the store listing and the checks above are the most that this guide can establish.
